Sound Creation
LowTone Brown's albums are based on the generation and processing of brown noise, a type of noise characterized by concentrated sonic energy in the low frequencies. Unlike white or pink noise, brown noise has a more pronounced spectral slope towards the lower frequencies, producing a softer, deeper, and often more immersive sonic texture.
The sonic foundation of each audio track is generated from a synthetic brown noise signal. This signal constitutes raw sonic material that is then processed to achieve a stable and homogeneous texture over extended periods.
Signal Generation
The generated signals are intentionally long to allow for extended listening without perceptible interruption.
Equalization and Spectral Shaping
After the initial signal is generated, various equalization operations are applied to adjust the spectral balance. These processes control the presence of low frequencies and gradually attenuate higher frequencies, creating different sonic textures while preserving the overall signature of brown noise.
This filtering work is carried out with precision to achieve subtle variations between the different tracks, while maintaining overall consistency throughout the album.
Signal Stabilization
Noise signals naturally exhibit slight amplitude fluctuations. To ensure comfortable listening over extended periods, very subtle dynamic processing is applied to stabilize these variations without altering the natural texture of the noise.
This process prevents excessive variations while preserving the organic character of the signal.
Normalization and Volume Level
The audio tracks are then normalized to achieve a consistent volume level across the different compositions. The final level is calibrated to remain comfortable during extended listening sessions and compatible with streaming platform standards.
A final limiter is applied to ensure the absence of distortion and to preserve signal integrity.
Sound Objective
The goal of this creative process is to produce stable, balanced brown noise textures suitable for continuous listening. Variations between tracks rely primarily on slight adjustments to the sound spectrum, allowing for the exploration of different nuances while maintaining a common foundation.
